The Blackthorn as it is currently known has been around for over 30 years in Daingean situated opposite the distinguishable Town Hall Building and Square right in the heart of the town.

"A family run business that spans a period of over 25 years. The Blackthorn is our third child that embodies friendship, high quality service accompanied by a really welcoming atmosphere. Aggie and I started out on our journey in the late 90’s and together we have witnessed many changes over time, from the smoking ban, a roaring Celtic Tiger, and a lengthy recession – all of which we navigated our way through in order to keep our doors open and the lights on. I don’t think anybody could have predicted what 2020 could bring.

 

When we closed our doors on March 15th, something inside me knew this was not going to be plain sailing; then again we have been faced with many trials and tribulations over the years so instead of dwelling on the sadness it brought, we have focused on re establishing ourselves in the hospitality market and have completed a total refurbishment of the premises.

This has been a risk indeed but we feel our customers deserve only the highest quality of comfort and quality and hope that our risks will be rewarded when we begin to welcome our customers back very shortly. We may have changed certain aspects of the building but our warm and welcoming atmosphere will be a constant, and will look forward to seeing you at The Balckthorn with strict adherence to public health guidelines without sacrificing service."
